Shimano Compre Fishing Rod - Read Before You Buy!

Shimano Compre Fishing Rod - Read Before You Buy!

The Shimano Compre fishing rod is definitely a must have and is a top class fishing rod. It has high quality components that I am going to cover. I am not going to give you bias, just my personal opinion on the Shimano Compre. It has a fair price from $89.99 - $99.99. There have been many new models inside the Compre series that were released recently.

Plus Features

You have to give Shimano a thumbs-up for the design of this rod. It definitely does have a beautiful, shiny finish to it. The new, black finish to this rod is a change from the old maroon finish and has a nice appeal to it. The new Fuji concept guides are a great addition to it to make the cast more efficient and the line stay more parallel to the rod. This rod is very sensitive, thanks to the top end IM-8 graphite construction. The spinning models have exposed blanks on the fore grip and the baitcasters have exposed blanks in front of the trigger for more sensitivity. I have been able to feel tiny minnows nip at my lures with this rod.

Here is a complete list of the features:

-IM-8 Graphite Construction (high quality, doesn't get much better)

-New Concept Fuji Hardloy guides (same here)

-Select models feature an Exposed Blank on either fore grip (spinning) or trigger (casting). (a really nice improvement!)

-Grade A cork handles

-Gudebrod thread wrapped guides for added strength

-Convenient hook keeper positioned on the side of the rod

-Lightweight cork composite butt cap (a great new feature)

-Limited Lifetime Warranty (on all Shimano rods)

Minuses

The only thing that I would like to see in this rod would be exposed blanks on the rear grips in the baitcasting line up. The price may be a little steep for angler just starting out, but for the serious anglers, this truly is a good rod and is one of my favorites.
